River Raiders Take on the Rams

The 2021 local football season is warming up with another practice match for the Barham Koondrook River Raiders. This time, the team travelled to Deniliquin to face the Rams. The Deni Rams has 14 premierships since 1949 in the Murray Football League. However, the Rams finished 11th in the Murray Football League in 2019, and 2020 did not go ahead for the Murray Football League due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Saturday's game on March 20, the River Raiders and Rams played five quarters. Deniliquin had a roster of 35 players while Barham Koondrook had 25, and the fifth quarter saw some of the Rams try a Raiders’ jersey, allowing Raiders players a hot shower and a rest, watching the completion of the match. Fans were treated to a close game and, if scores were kept, the Raiders would have lost the game by a couple of goals.

This weekend, March 27, the Barham Koondrook River Raiders will face Golden Rivers Football League team, Wandella Bombers, which has 14 premierships since 1945. The football game starts around 12:30pm with a netball practice game in the morning at the Barham Recreation Reserve. Barham will have a boosted roster with nine players returning.
