September 2022 marks the 8th World Dementia Awareness Month Campaign. This coincides with World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21. Dementia currently affects more than 487,500 Australians and is the second leading cause of death among Australians. With medical researchers constantly working on new treatments and therapies to slow down or (ideally) cure the disease, it is concerning to consider that the number of people with dementia is expected to increase to almost 1.1 million by 2058.
