World Bowls coming to Barham…

cluBarham has successfully secured the rights to host the prestigious World Bowls Championships in 2025 and 2026, bringing this major international event to the local region along with fans and competitors from right across the globe.

This achievement has been a collaborative effort between cluBarham and Murray River Council who put together a proposal to attract the drawcard event to Barham.

To mark the milestone, World Bowls representatives travelled from London in late November to celebrate the partnership and inspect the Club’s facilities.

cluBarham CEO, Jason Wallace welcomed their visit, and said it was great to be able to highlight Barham as a premier destination for word-class competitions.

“Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive—they were extremely impressed with the town, the Club, and the high standard of its facilities. It’s clear we have set the stage for a truly exceptional event next September,” Mr Wallace said.

Murray River Council Mayor, John Harvie said the event will be a great opportunity for the local area.

“This event is not just a milestone for cluBarham but also an incredible opportunity for our region. We anticipate a significant boost to local tourism, with participants and guests eager to explore the area.”

Event Highlights:

• Dates: September 2025 and 2026

• Participants: 53 players representing 29 countries.

• Each player typically brings an entourage of coaches, trainers, friends, and family—resulting in approximately 200 international visitors for the week.

“This is an exciting time for our community, and I’m confident it will be a showcase of everything our region has to offer. We look forward to working closely with cluBarham and local stakeholders to make this event a resounding success,” Cr Harvie said.
