Whale Watching Extraordinaire

It is that time of the year when hundreds of whale watchers gather at vantage points along the Australian coast stretching from west of Portland and Warrnambool right up to Cairns and beyond. Between April and November, the humpback whales travel around a total of 10,000 kilometres from near Antarctica on a migration route heading north to give birth to their young in warmer waters and then do the return with their young. To see these magnificent creatures at close quarters is an awesome experience. Let me tell you about a time my wife and I experienced one of these events.
