Bruce Heard
When Bruce Heard was conscripted to the Vietnam War in 1967, he was okay with that. In 1964, the National Service Act had introduced a scheme to create an army of 40,000 full-time soldiers. Bruce was now one of them and aged 19, left his carpentry apprenticeship for the National Service.
His two-year term began with training in May 1968 and consisted of 10 weeks
