Vietnam Veterans’ Day will be commemorated tomorrow (Friday, August 18) in the Memorial Park at 11am. The day is held on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan on August 18, 1966. Anyone is welcome to observe the short ceremony.
This week, we tell the stories of Graeme ‘Jock’ Spring and Trevor Powis who both served during the Vietnam War but have very different experiences.

For Trevor Powis, his time in the army was through National Service. He was called up for National Service from 1966-1968 and while he didn’t serve in Vietnam, he played a strong part in the training here in Australia.
