Ochre Health Barham has welcomed a new doctor for 2021, Dr Tharindu Uyanage.
Dr Uyanage, a keen cricketer, graduated from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and began an emergency medicine career in Singapore.
After completing three years in Singapore, he migrated to Australia with his wife in 2012. He has worked in the intensive care unit in Geelong Hospital and obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatology units in Werribee Mercy Hospital and the emergency department at Alfred hospital.
Dr Uyanage completed emergency medicine training in 2017 and has been working as an emergency consultant at University Hospital Geelong, St John of God Geelong, Epworth Geelong and Werribee Mercy Hospital. He has a special interest in education, training and mentoring.
He joined the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) as an Independent Pathway GP registrar and will be moving to Barham with his wife and two children to join the Ochre Health team in 2021.
