As producers eagerly await the commencement of processing at the Barham Micro Abattoir, a member of Murray Plains Meat Co-Operative (MPMC), Quin McKenzie, has been working on a volunteer basis at Tableland Meats in Canowindra, NSW. The time spent will enable Quin to familiarise himself with the equipment and procedures as it is, for the most part, the same equipment at the MPMC facility. Quin does not expect to be working in the MPMC facility long-term, but he believes having someone trained in the use of the equipment will be of great advantage in assisting with staff training.
