A text message came from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service a while ago reminding me that I had an appointment with the blood donor centre. My blood is highly sought after by the Blood Bank because it is classified as “O Negative” - the “universal” blood. All blood is precious, but O Negative especially so, because anyone can receive this type no matter what the blood grouping of the recipient – especially helpful in an emergency situation!
