We celebrated Remembrance Day this past week and I am reminded that it was former Veteran Affairs Minister, Darren Chester, who shared how it is important to honour the centenary of the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front. “We must never forget the service and sacrifice of 331,000 Australians who enlisted (for the First World War) and 60,000 who never made it back home to the country they loved. Remembrance Day is a time for us as a nation to unite in a minute of solemn respect and admiration for those who have served and died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and thank all the fallen, former and current serving men and women for their service.”
