Recently my wife and I were driving up the 880 kilometre long Hume Freeway stretching between Melbourne and Sydney, reminding me again of how many hundreds of trucks use this freeway daily – many of them being B Double trucks with up to 34 wheels. Heavy vehicles thunder where once early settler horses’ hooves pounded on this route between Australia’s two biggest cities.
