The iron horses may have fallen silent but the buzz from the annual Gannawarra Toy Run has continued. 

This week, $4,000 was donated to Barham Vinnies that will go to improve the lives of local residents.

Vinnies’ volunteer Jenny Cain said the generosity of the community gives families in need a real helping hand.

“This will only be used in this area, to help local families,” said Jenny.

“It's all used for the people less fortunate than us.

“From vouchers for petrol to electricity, or vouchers for food.”

Sadly, the good work of the local Vinnies is under threat, and they desperately need volunteers.

“People can do as little or as much as they like.

“Half a day a week or even half a day a fortnight.”
