Recently, while walking past a creek close to our home, I heard the croaking of frogs, hundreds of them it seemed, much louder and more constant than normal. The distinctive ‘bonk’ calls of the Eastern Banjo Frog could be heard, as well as other varieties. I was reminded of words from my father back on the family farm in earlier years saying that the croaking of frogs often precedes the coming of a good rain event. That was his experience over many years of farming.
