In 1912, two impressive steam ships were built. One was the Titanic and the other was TSS Earnslaw. Tragically, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage with the loss of 1,500 lives. The other, TSS Earnslaw, is still going strongly 112 years after its construction. It presently carries thousands of appreciative passengers each year as a pleasure steamer on Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand’s South Island.      

Named after Mt Earnslaw (2,819 metres) the TSS Earnslaw is 51.2 metres long
