In 1912 two impressive steam ships were built. One was the Titanic and the other was TSS Earnslaw. Tragically the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage with the loss of 1500 lives. The other, TSS Earnslaw, is still going strongly one hundred and thirteen years after its construction. It presently carries thousands of appreciative passengers each year as a pleasure steamer on Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand’s South Island.
Named after Mt Earnslaw (2819 metres) the TSS Earnslaw is 51.2 metres
