As events around the country are postponed due to COVID-19, the annual Wakool Show snuck in just in the nick of time!

The Wakool Show committee had some new blood in this year and some new attractions including a shearing competition, Aussie’s vs Kiwi’s.

Friday night started with the presentation of three life member awards presented by June Lowry and George Rathbone to recipients Max Treweek, Mick Cattanach (president) and Andrea Robertson.

There was a great array of entries into the show: cakes, flowers, art, crafts and photography. On tasting the men’s cake entries, some blokes must have a hidden talent, some in cake decorating other in baking. Overall winner of the men’s cake competition was Andy Gleeson and best tasting was awarded to Guy Treweek.

Catherine Rosewell, Dot Boswell and Berv Main all received Memorial Trophies for best pavilion exhibits.
 

When it came to the shearing, the Kiwi team were the victors on the night, though the Aussie’s did appear to do a neater job.

The competitions provided great entertainment to the spectators with plenty of cheering and encouragement as the teams of four, shore two sheep each.

Saturday saw the running of fashions on the field and the horse events, Pony Club High point winner was Pyper Tucker.
