Logan McNeil, the 19-year-old younger brother of 2020 Melbourne Cup Winner, Jye McNeil, has won the Bet365 Protest Promise BM64 Handicap at Yarra Valley Racecourse on Sunday, March 14.
Riding ‘Lord Sundowner’ on a soft track, over 1000m, it was the Ronald Tait trained six-year-old Bay Gelding that was the victor, with a weight of 61.5kg.
Logan also rode the 1200m on three-year-old gelding, ‘Helloadream’, finishing seventh with a weight of 56kg at Yarra Valley.
On Saturday, March 13, Logan was at Berrigan where the track was good.
Race one, Russell Osborne trained ‘Jumpin’ Jaguar’, a three-year-old filly, finished ninth with a weight of 55kg in the 1200m Jim and Eileen Fisher Memorial Maiden Plate.
Race two, the 1200m Barooga Sporties/Elders Finley Class One, upon ‘Okra’, Logan finished third with a weight of 58.5kg.
Race three, The Gerald Egan trained ‘Miss Benefits’, a four-year-old mare, finished second with a weight of 55kg in the 1400m Eagle I and Nutrien Ag Maiden Plate.
Race four, Andrew Dale trained ‘Port Triano’, an eight-year-old gelding, finished tenth with a weight of 55kg in the 1400m Con Carr Betta Home Living/Finley IGA Finley IGA Cup -Benchmark 58 Handicap.
Race five, Andrew Dale trained ‘Classic Fastnet’, a four-year-old gelding, finished 14th with a weight of 60.5kg in The AF (Bert) Honeychurch Memorial sponsored by Sun Valley Finley Benchmark 50 Handicap.
